BRDC Historic Sportscars
For many seasons, the BRDC has championed the use of classic sports-racing cars of the 1950s in historic racing by running a championship for the cars. Things are changing for 2008, with a new organiser in the form of Duncan Wiltshire and a shift of focus towards a smaller number of longer races, some of them featuring two drivers.
That should be a real boost to the series, and ensure that some of the most evocative sports-racing cars of all time are kept in active competition. The field will typically includes Jaguar D Types, Cooper Monacos, Aston Martins, 'Birdcage' Maseratis and some nimble smaller-engined cars from Lotus.
