FIA Lurani Trophy – Historic Formula Junior
Although it only had a relatively short life from 1958 to 1963, Formula Junior was a fantastically successful category for aspiring Grand Prix drivers. At the time, it filled the role now covered by Formula Ford, Formula Renault and Formula 3, and many Grand Prix drivers made their name in the rapid single-seater racing cars.
Now, as the category celebrates its 50th season, it is more popular than ever as a historic racing class and more than 300 Juniors race regularly world-wide. The Silverstone Classic races make up a round of the prestigious pan-European Lurani Trophy, named in memory of the man who created the formula half a century ago.
